Research from a South Korean cosmetics company examines the effects of dust and motorized fuel particles in the air on human scalp cells. This is the first study to look at the relationship between air pollution and hair loss.

The four proteins are beta-catenin, cyclin D1, cyclin E, and CDK2. Beta-catenin protein is involved in hair growth and the process of formation and regulation of follicles.
